The company strengthens its presence in the local community by investing in direct, high-quality services for citizens.
Hellenic Gas Distribution Company Enaon EDA, a subsidiary of Enaon, has launched a new Consumer Service Office in Chalkida, enhancing its presence in the local community with respect for citizens’ needs. The aim is to facilitate customer service and provide personalised support at all stages of the connection process to the natural gas distribution network.
The inauguration of the new Consumer Service Office in Chalkida took place yesterday by the CEO of Enaon EDA, Ms. Francesca Zanninotti, in the presence of the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanis Spanos, the Deputy Mayor for Administration, Finance, and Citizens’ Service Centres of the Municipality of Chalkida, Mr. Nikolaos–Panagiotis Papageorgopoulos, representatives of the local economic and social community, and a large number of attendees.
During her speech, Ms Francesca Zanninotti, CEO of Enaon EDA, emphasised:
“This new office is our way of showing that we are here for the people of Chalkida, ready to support them and answer all their questions. We are here to offer direct and high-quality service at every stage of the connection process to the natural gas distribution network – from signing the contract to final activation. The construction of the network is not merely about bringing natural gas to the city – it is about constructing a modern and reliable energy infrastructure that supports the journey toward a more sustainable future. Natural gas is already a cleaner alternative to tranditional fuels, but what is even more encouraging is that this network is ready for the next step: the distribution of renewable gases, such as biomethane and, in the future, hydrogen. This marks a significant move towards a greener energy future, contributing to the energy transition and the achievement of both national and European climate goals.”
The Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanis Spanos, stated: «We are particularly pleased that the project for the development of the natural gas distribution network in Chalkida has been completed. This provides households and businesses in the city with access to more affordable, cleaner and more efficient forms of energy, such as natural gas and, in the future, renewable gases. Our goal is for the Region of Central Greece to become greener, more efficient, and more competitive, and for more and more of our citizens to benefit from the economic and environmental advantages of the new energy era. Apart from Chalkida, gas distribution infrastructure is also being developed in Thebes, Lamia, Livadia, Karpenisi and Amfissa. This strategic investment has a total budget of €47,350,000, of which €21,200,000 comes from the NSRF of the Region of Central Greece».
The Deputy Mayor for Administration, Finance, and Citizens’ Service Centres of the Municipality of Chalkida, Mr. Nikolaos–Panagiotis Papageorgopoulos, noted: «We welcome Enaon EDA initiative to operate a Consumer Service Office in Chalkida, which will benefit the local community. The arrival of natural gas is an essential step towards upgrading the region’s energy infrastructure, and we are ready to contribute actively so that citizens have access to this cleaner, more economical form of energy. We recognise that natural gas offers multiple benefits to the local community and the environment, and serves as a bridge fuel that will gradually lead us to the use of renewable gases such as biomethane and, in the future, hydrogen, thus reinforcing the goal of a sustainable energy future. We would therefore like to express our full support for the company’s work and our firm commitment to continuing our close cooperation with the shared aim of promoting the progress and prosperity of Chalkida and its residents».
The project for the development of the network in Chalkida and Thiva, with a total budget of €13.4 million, is co-financed by Enaon EDA’s own funds and resources from the NSRF through the Operational Programme of the Region of Central Greece. With co-financing from Greece and the European Union, the project began under the NSRF 2014–2020 and will be completed through the 2021–2027 “Central Greece” Programme.
In Chalkida, the construction of the natural gas distribution network under the co-financed project has already been completed. The city now has modern energy infrastructure, reinforcing the goals of sustainable development. Going forward, the company will focus primarily on new consumer connections, and the current period is ideal for those interested to express their intention to connect. It is worth noting that, within the framework of the co-financed project, the connection cost for residential and commercial consumers is zero, further facilitating access to more economical and environmentally friendly energy options. At the same time, timely expression of interest allows for better planning of works, in coordination with projects by the Municipality and other bodies.
Today, more than 280 consumers are already connected to the network in Chalkida, including households, businesses, and major public infrastructure such as the Chalkida General Hospital and the Municipal Swimming Pool.
The new Consumer Service Office of Enaon EDA in Chalkida is located at 11, 28th October Street and operates from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 14:30.
As part of its business plan, Enaon EDA is developing natural gas distribution networks in six cities in the Region of Central Greece: Chalkida, Thiva, Lamia, Karpenisi, Amfissa, and Livadia. By 2029, over 11,000 consumer connections across all categories are expected to be connected to the network, contributing significantly to the reduction of energy costs for households and businesses, the protection of the environment, and the achievement of national and European targets for a sustainable energy future.
