Operation and Maintenance of Internal Installations

Brief Instructions Regarding Natural Gas Internal Installations

With a view to the proper and safe operation of the natural gas internal installations, some important aspects regarding operation and maintenance are listed.

We would like to remind you that maintenance is mandatory according to the current regulatory framework for Internal Installations:

  • Technical Regulation of natural gas Internal Installations with an operating pressure of up to 500mbar (Government Gazette B’ 976/28.03.2012)
  • Technical Regulation of natural gas Internal Installations with operating pressure up to 1 bar (Government Gazette B’ 963/15.07.2003)
  • Technical Regulation of natural gas Internal Installations with an operating pressure of more than 50 mbar and a maximum operating pressure of up to 16 bar (Government Gazette B’ 236/26.03.1997)

Based on the above, you should schedule the maintenance of your installations by licensed technicians according to the frequency set by the applicable legislation and technical regulations.

Gas appliances should be serviced at least annually unless there are more specific provisions or instructions of their manufacturer that specify shorter intervals. The relevant work can only be carried out by Combustion Technicians or engineers of appropriate qualification as defined in Presidential Decree 114/2012, and the required emissions sheet should be issued. In addition, piping and fittings should be re-inspected at least every four years for domestic installations by Plumbers or engineers of appropriate qualification as defined by Presidential Decree 112/2012, and the appropriate certificate must be issued. Both documents are delivered to the consumer and are prerequisites for the safe use of the installation.

It is pointed out that for the License to be valid, there must be absolutely no changes to the Internal Installation and the associated areas and there must be maintenance documents, as mentioned above, in force.

For issues related to the supply of natural gas (i.e. up to the natural gas meter), the Gas Distribution Company (enaon EDA) is exclusively responsible.

The consumer is responsible for the good condition and maintenance of the internal gas installation, the proper operation of the gas appliances and must only entrust licensed technicians with the maintenance and immediate restoration of malfunctions and deficiencies.

Any intervention in the ventilation openings that may lead to a reduction in the air supply to the installation area of the gas appliances is prohibited.

It is important to regularly check the condition and effectiveness of the exhaust system, to make sure that it is not blocked by nests or other objects, that it maintains its structural integrity as well as its tightness, especially in the interior of buildings. Worn flues-chimneys must be replaced.
